Seahawks Champion PED Drug Culture in Seattle

Seattle defensive lineman, Bruce Irvin, became the seventh Seahawks player to test positive for PED’s (Performance Enhancing Drugs) since 2011.

Only the Washington Redskins have racked up more drug suspensions than the Seahawks and that’s only because “Adderall Advocate” Richard Sherman beat his drug suspension on a technicality.

The Redskins and the Seahawks are far and away the undisputed PED-Kings of the NFL with 7 suspensions for Washington and 6 for Seattle, while no other team has more than four.

As long as the league pussy foots around with 4-game suspensions for guilty players, Pete Carroll and the “Seadderall Seahawks” will keep popping the pills and running wild on the field.

Carroll calls the rampant drug use on his team a “League Issue.” This comes as no surprise as Carroll has been abusing the college and professional level rules since he started coaching.

He’s always been one of those coaches who can turn a blind-eye towards any type of outrageous or illegal off-field behavior and there’s no reason or motivation for him to change now.

Defenseman Dwight Freeney Signs with San Diego

Former Colts defenseman Dwight Freeney signed a two-year contact to play for the San Diego Super Chargers.

This a good match for both sides as the Chargers were in need of some serious help with getting to the quarterback after losing Melvin Ingram with a torn ACL.

Freeney is 33-years-old and got cut from Colts after a subpar 2012 season, but he will see significant playing time in San Diego.

The Chargers will likely make adjustments to the team’s defensive schemes to help the aging veteran achieve as much success as possible.

Cedric Benson Ready for Return to Green Bay

RB – Cedric Benson –

Packer’s runningback, Cedric Benson says he is almost 100% recovered following a season ending Listfranc foot sprain during week 5. The 9-year veteran has been doing intense running drills at his college alma mater, University of Texas.

The Green Bay Packer’s offense is one of the most explosive passing offenses in the league. Pro-Bowl Quarterback Aaron Rodgers led the fast flying offense with more than 4,000 yards passing yards ranking the team ninth in passing yards.

The Packers recently lost Green Bay’s gifted wide receiver Greg Jennings to free agency. The Packers will need to rely heavily on the run game if they want to make it far into the 2013-2014 playoffs. The run game will help to throw off linebackers, pull safeties and set-up successful play action situations.

Benson will be crucial for the Green Bay organization this season because of his experience. Most likely the Packers will use a higher level draft pick on a running back such as Eddie Lacy from Alabama or Giovani Bernard from UNC.

Benson has already played for 3 different teams and will be instrumental in rookie development for the Packers if the team drafts a running back.

Broncos Scramble to Replace Dumervil

DL – Elvis Dumervil –

Thanks to the fax-machine snafu, the Broncos are now scrambling to fill the void left by veteran defensive lineman Elvis Dumervil who recently bolted for Baltimore. Now Denver is looking to the likes of Dwight Freeney and John Abraham to keep their defense up to par with last year’s team.

The 29-year-old Dumervil will be practically impossible to replace considering he registered eleven sacks for the Broncos last year.

Freeney, a long-time teammate of Peyton Manning, will be sought after first by the Broncos. Look for the Broncos to pay the 33-year old significantly less than they did Dumervil. Freeney had five sacks for the Colts last year, but has slowed down considerably since he was in his prime.

John Abraham is another candidate for the Bronco’s defense, but like Freeney, the soon to be 35-year-old has lost a step or two in the past couple of years. But the Broncos will have to work with what they have to keep pace with Peyton Manning and Wes Welker.

Ravens Pull Off Deal for Dumervil

Make no mistake about it, signing Elvis Dumervil was a big win for the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore lost five starting defensemen from the team’s Super Bowl squad in just ten days and was in danger of a complete defensive collapse. Suddenly, they have Dumervil to lead the team’s defense and all is well in Baltimore.

In this case, Baltimore’s gain is certainly Denver’s loss. All signs pointed to Dumervil heading back to the Mile-High-City, but the Ravens made him an offer he just couldn’t refuse.

Dumervil got the deal he had wanted in Denver, a five-year contract worth $35 million. He also gets to return to the position he loves best, the 3-4 outside linebacker. This is the same position he played in Denver in 2009 when he rang up a career high 17 sacks for the Broncos.

The news out of Baltimore just keeps getting worse for the Super Bowl Champion Ravens.

The day after losing Ed Reed to the Houston Texans, the Ravens bid farewell to another hard-hitting defender, Bernard Pollard.

Pollard strikes fear into the heart of opposing players, but he is know to be a problem child in the locker room.

Pollard signed a one-year-deal with the Titans as the Baltimore defense is thinning out by the day.

After a disastrous free agent period, the Ravens really have their work cut out for them during the remainder of the offseason.
