Denver Bronco Pro-Bowl linebacker was hit with a 4-game suspension for allegedly violating the NFL’s substance-abuse policy.
Miller is pursuing the appeal process tweeting, “I know I did nothing wrong. I’m sure this’ll be resolved fairly”.
Due to the case being entered into the appeal process, to determine if the 4-game suspension will stand strong, the NFL is not permitted to disclose what specific substances the Pro-Bowler allegedly ingested. However, NFL policy states that a player would have to test positive for banned substances twice before facing a 4-game suspension.
Multiple reports mention Miller’s failed drug test in 2011 that revealed a positive test for marijuana and “molly” (which is a form of the drug ecstasy.
Von Miller will be able to attend training camp, but if the suspension holds up, he will be forced to exit the team premises following the 3rd Broncos preseason game.
The defensive impact of Miller on the field is almost unmatched in the league. The 2011 2nd overall pick has recorded 30 sacks and 8 forced fumbles in just 2 NFL seasons.
The Broncos will miss the 24-year-old linebacker (if the suspension stands), especially since the team recently cut ties with veteran linebacker, Elvis Dumervil, during the offseason. Miller would miss the 1st four games of the regular season that includes the defending champion Ravens, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, and Philadelphia Eagles.
