Thanks to the fax-machine snafu, the Broncos are now scrambling to fill the void left by veteran defensive lineman Elvis Dumervil who recently bolted for Baltimore. Now Denver is looking to the likes of Dwight Freeney and John Abraham to keep their defense up to par with last year’s team.

The 29-year-old Dumervil will be practically impossible to replace considering he registered eleven sacks for the Broncos last year.

Freeney, a long-time teammate of Peyton Manning, will be sought after first by the Broncos. Look for the Broncos to pay the 33-year old significantly less than they did Dumervil. Freeney had five sacks for the Colts last year, but has slowed down considerably since he was in his prime.

John Abraham is another candidate for the Bronco’s defense, but like Freeney, the soon to be 35-year-old has lost a step or two in the past couple of years. But the Broncos will have to work with what they have to keep pace with Peyton Manning and Wes Welker.
