Defensive End Osi Umenyiora settled his nest into Falcons territory, agreeing to a 2 year $8.5 million contract with $3.5 million in incentives.

It’s no surprise that Umenyiora decided to go to Atlanta after announcing,”The only thing I can think of that would be better than being able to win in New York, would be to be able to win here in Atlanta,” which sparked rumors across the NFL.

Umenyiora spent 10 years with the Giants, racking up 75 sacks and a pair of Superbowl rings. However, injury issues have limited his defensive production during the last two seasons. Obviously, the Falcons hope a change of scenery will breathe new life into his career and the Atlanta defense.

The Falcons have yet to win a championship, but resigning Tony Gonzalez and offseason additions like Steven Jackson and Umenyiora may ultimately put them on a collision course with the Super Bowl.
